Bonaparte Interiør, here by Karianne F. Rimmereid and Emmy Rimmereid, has designed the interior for Ytri.
Bonaparte Interiør has been closely involved in shaping Ytri ever since the idea first surfaced. From day one, they have worked side by side with the project’s founders to realize the vision: creating a retreat where people can return to stillness, nature, presence — and a form of luxury that does not need to be displayed, only felt.
With this as a foundation, Bonaparte Interiør has developed a design expression that moves with the landscape rather than against it. The interiors reflect Ytri’s core idea of clarity and quiet: the rhythm of the sea, the texture of stone, the movement of light, and the warm human presence that makes a room a place people want to stay.
Karianne F. Rimmereid, founder and creative director of Bonaparte Interiør, has for more than two decades led one of Norway’s most respected interior design studios. She is uncompromising on quality, yet practical, solution-oriented, and deeply pragmatic in her approach. Karianne is known for making bold, creative choices and for crafting refined solutions that never come at the expense of warmth or the comfort of a space. She brings elegance and aesthetic clarity together with functional, thoughtful design — creating timeless environments where people genuinely want to be.
Together with Emmy M. F. Rimmereid, interior architect with a bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh, she bridges generations and perspectives. Emmy’s international experience from London adds depth, perspective, and a contemporary sensitivity to the Scandinavian design language.
Their six-person team works holistically — from spatial planning and lighting design to bespoke furniture and full execution. For Ytri, they have created an interior identity inseparable from the landscape — a place to breathe, to slow down, and simply be.
Our rooms
Bonaparte is known for turning ambitious visions into practical, buildable solutions — always balancing the refined with the grounded. They create spaces that invite reflection and calm, yet also offer zones for conversation and togetherness. Their strengths lie in uncompromising quality, executional precision, pragmatism, and exceptional collaboration with both craftsmen and project teams.
In collaboration with local artisans such as Hadeland Glassverk, Norway’s oldest glassworks, Bonaparte Interiør has developed bespoke elements that elevate both the materials and the stories behind them. A part of the wooden florring, the “kubbegulv", is produced of leftover materials from Norsk Gran and, and the terrazzo is cast with local aggregate — sand, stone and shells from the island. As a result, Ytri’s interiors are both locally rooted and internationally relevant — raw in expression, calm in presence, and refined in detail.
Every room at Ytri is designed in deep respect for nature and the surrounding view. Soft textiles, handcrafted lighting and sculptural details create spaces that invite guests to unwind. Outside, winter storms sweep across the sea or bright summer nights glow on the horizon — while inside, light moves slowly through the day, binding landscape and interior into a warm, sheltered atmosphere.
Ytri is more than a destination — it is a state of being. Bonaparte Interiør reminds us that true beauty does not need to be seen; it is felt — in the pause between light and silence, in the calm that lingers long after you have left.
